Southampton FC vs Sevilla FC – Predicted XI

Looking at our first pre-season match at home against FC Augsburg, it wasn’t a great performance from the lads which resulted in us losing 0-4 against the Bundesliga side. That’s why I think Pellegrino will likely make a lot of changes to the starting XI.

So what’s the team I think will be starting?

Fraser Forster- Forster wasn’t the best against FC Augburg, but surely he will be between the sticks againts Sevilla FC.

Cedric Soares-  I think Cedric will return to the starting eleven, in place of Jeremy Pied, who didn’t have the best of times on Wednesday night.

Maya Yoshida- We all know that Maya’s been our best centre-back since Virgil Van Dijk got injured. Last match he wasn’t that bad, he had to play along with Bednarek, a player who has very little experience, but I believe Yoshida will retain his place in the team.

Florin Gardos- Yes, I’m one of those who says that Florin should have an opportunity to impress, and this match could be the perfect one for him. I’m not saying that he should play all the match, but he should have the opportunity to play at least 60-70 minutes.

Ryan Bertand- Ryan was among the substitutes in the last match but I think he’ll have more minutes to play against Sevilla FC.

Oriol Romeu- Romeu was one of our best players against FC Augsburg, he did a lot of defensive work, it’s true that the fist goal came from a mistake by him but generally he had a good match.

Jordy Clasie- Jordy didn’t start last match and he could make a great duo with Romeu, knowing that we have a seriouly weak defense, they could help a lot in defense.

Nathan Redmond- Last match we could see a fully fit Nathan. Pellegrino could be experimenting with him, changing him to the other side.

James Ward-Prowse- Pellegrino tried to use James as a CAM, he did a good work there, he had some chances but couldn’t take advantage of them. He’s likely to start in this match also.

Sofiane Boufal- Moroccan international was impressive againts FC Augsburg, he was a substitute but when he started playing he caused great chances for the team. Perfect impact sub.

Manolo Gabbiadini- Charlie Austin wasn’t as good as we expected him to be in the last match, think that Gabbiadini could contribute much more than Austin. That’s why I think he should start.
