Southampton have recently joined Huddersfield and Newcastle on the list of clubs interested in Marcus Coco, according to The Sun.
21-year-old Marcus Coco currently plays in France’s top tier with Guingamp. He can play on the both sides of midfield but mainly features on the right wing for his current side. Newcastle manager, Rafa Benitez stated that Coco was one of his main transfer targets when coming into the premier league, Huddersfield are also interested. Marcus Coco has featured for the French under-21’s before so he obviously has that special something.
His play style is similar to Boufal’s in a sense that he likes to beat his man with pace and skill and leaving the opposition no choice but to foul him. Southampton do have a number of attacking options but there’s still something missing, could Coco fill that gap?
Southampton are still rumoured to be interested in winger Yann Karamoh but I don’t personally see both of these deals going through, we will likely only sign one of the two.
Southampton fans have been moaning recently at our lack of business in this transfer window, but patience is a virtue and Saints love to leave it till that last minute. Now that Pellegrino’s men are back in England, I expect the Argentine to look at his squad and fill the gaps suitably with new signings.
