Southampton’s second signing of the summer transfer window is 16-year-old midfielder; Will Ferry. The youngster signed from Bury’s under-18’s just a few hours ago, but who really is he?
There’s not a lot to know about him to be honest as he has only really just started his footballing career. The promising midfielder has been tipped to be one of the best young players around and what better way to step up your career than joining a club like Southampton, famous for turning young talent into top class footballers. There are rumours of him having trials with Manchester City, Liverpool and even Premier League champions, Chelsea.
The youngster has Irish blood in his family but is yet to decide with which national team he would like to pursue his career with. I fully expect Ferry to be a regular with our under-18’s set up and try and break into the first team withing the next three of four seasons. Both of Mauricio Pellegrino’s signings have been under the age of 22, which would mean the club are focusing on the long term future at the club and is sticking with the Southampton way.
